Free event to help businesses in North Wales thrive under GDPR

A GDPR event with a difference is being hosted by NatWest Cymru at Coleg Cambria’s Northop Campus on June 15, which aims to help businesses from across North Wales adapt and thrive under the new data protection law.

The free event, which is being hosted by NatWest Cymru’s business growth enabler for North Wales, Owain Williams, will bring together an expert panel of marketing and business development specialists for a series of talks and seminars looking at how local businesses can continue engaging with customers and prospects without compromising the new regulations.

Guest panellists will include digital marketing expert David Bingle of the DDL Group, cyber security specialist Christ Smith of B2Systems, and business development director Charlotte Girow of MCPC Systems.

The implementation of the General Data Protection Law, which came into affect on May 25, means that businesses have to be more accountable and compliant with the personal data they store and use.

    Owain Williams said:

“GDPR affects many businesses in North Wales, but it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Instead of drilling down on the restrictions of the new law, we’ve assembled a team of experts to show how they can actually move forward under the new regulations without compromising them.

“From the software businesses use to the marketing approaches they choose, we’ll be covering all the nitty gritty bits that have been left on the side-lines of GDPR discussions until now. That means answering questions like ‘how do you win and keep the consent of marketing contacts’ or ‘what do you do if a customer requests to be forgotten?’ These are questions that matter to businesses in the every day reality of the new law.

“Importantly, we’ll be showing local businesses who attend a panic-free approach to how they can continue to thrive with the new data protection law in place.”

The event is part of NatWest Cymru’s work in the region supporting local businesses and helping them access the funding and support they need.

NatWest’s Beyond the Restrictions of GDPR: How to Protect and Boost Your Business Without Worry takes place at Coleg Cambrian, Northop Campus on June 15 from 8am to 10.30am and is open to all local businesses to attend. Complimentary refreshments and goody bags will be available.
