Following extensive ground investigations and drainage surveys Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Highways Team have determined that the drainage on Groes-Faen Terrace, Bargoed requires replacing to prevent further ground deterioration.

As part of the pre-enabling works, a weekend closure starting at 8am on the 9th October until the 4pm on the 10th October will be in place between Groes-Faen Terrace and the Factory Road junction. These works and the subsequent repair works are weather dependent and are subject to change at short notice

The anticipated start date for the road and drainage replacement works is the 18th October 2021 and are expected to take seven weeks to complete.

Groes-Ffaen Terrace Road up to the junction with Factory Road will be closed for five weeks plus an additional weekend closure together with one week of single lane closure. The A469 / Factory Road will not be closed during these works.

Pedestrian access will be maintained where practicable, however, the pedestrian diversion route will be along the Darran Valley Cycle route also known as Bristol Terrace.

The main bus route will be diverted, full details will be provided separately and advertised within local communities. Pupils and schools affected will receive revised pickup times shortly. Please note the pickup locations will remain the same but will be undertaken in the reverse order.

These are complex and deep excavation works and the only way these works can be undertaken safely is by means of a road closure. All other options have been considered prior to confirming the road closure as an agreed approach.
