One of Wales’ leading medical supply company Hospital Innovations has been generously assisted by Sony to securely store thousands of safety gowns at its UK Technology Centre in Pencoed.

Hospital Innovations recently secured a significant deal to supply 100,000 disposable medical gowns to one of the UK’s largest private hospital groups. To fulfil the contract, the Talbot Green-based distributor took an immediate shipment of 40,000 non-sterile, waterproof gowns from its European manufacturing facility, and liaised with Sony to safely store the excess gowns before they are distributed to recipients.

Hospital Innovations specialises in delivering innovative solutions to hospitals and clinics worldwide, and in response to the current COVID-19 outbreak, has made sourcing personal protective equipment (PPE) for facilities in the UK a priority. The medical-grade disposable gowns are made from non-woven materials that provide a bacterial barrier and come in various sizes.

Phil Davies, Chairman at Hospital Innovations, said: “We are very grateful to Sony for the swift and positive way in which they have supported us in providing a warehouse facility for the large number of PPE products we have secured to assist with the COVID crisis. Without the support of Sony, we would have been unable to process this substantial order and as a result, much needed PPE would have been prevented from making it to front line hospital medical staff.”

Steve Dalton OBE, Managing Director at Sony UK Technology Centre, said: “We are so glad that we have been able to support the effort to get much needed PPE out to frontline staff during this unprecedented time.

“We pride ourselves on supporting the local community and we have worked closely with our local hospitals for many years now, so we are hugely grateful to play a role in ensuring staff are fully protected whilst carrying out their incredible work.

“As a business, we are committed to working with, and for, the people of South Wales so it has been a pleasure to work with another locally based company in providing vital equipment to aid the fight against the virus.”
