How SoftOrbits’ tools enable marketing teams to edit images with zero training time

SoftOrbits is an image data processing software development company founded by Eugene Ustinenkov in 2006. Starting as a small startup, it eventually became one of the niche-leading companies recognized by Softonic, OISV, and CNET. Nowadays SoftOrbits boasts over a million yearly downloads, 300,000 users, and overwhelmingly positive Trustpilot reviews.

Recently, SoftOrbits released several new suites consisting of small-scale utilities for photo and video editing. These packages were extremely successful, resulting in an overall 20% growth in downloads for the company. The team is convinced that the reason behind their tools’ popularity lies in their unique benefits.

“Our team has always developed small-scale single-feature utilities that targeted non-professionals. A lot of our customers are people who want a quick, convenient, and intuitive solution to a very specific technical issue, and we provide just that. This focus has helped us thrive in a highly competitive niche dominated by giant software providers who develop comprehensive solutions, and we believe that it will still remain this way in the years to come,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits and AlarmFront.

As Eugene Ustinenkov explains, the same unique characteristics that made SoftOrbits’ tools appealing to amateur photographers and influencers are now highly valued by marketing teams. The team behind SoftOrbits has contacted several marketing departments that rely on their software to learn why they chose it over other options. It turned out that the main appeal of SoftOrbits’ tools lies in the fact that they require little to no training and enable newcomers to immediately start using them, which significantly increases overall productivity and reduces expenses.

“From a marketing perspective, it makes perfect sense, and it is especially important today because of how high employee turnover has become in recent years. Imagine spending four weeks training someone only for them to leave your company in the next six months — it costs quite a lot. Intuitive tools — especially ones that provide automation and natural language recognition — are highly profitable for these companies, and they reduce the stress of management as well,” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits, Candidate of Technical Sciences.

Another significant point here, Ustinenkov adds, is that most marketing teams don’t really require the capabilities that bulky comprehensive programs provide. While, theoretically, these tools can provide a lot of flexibility when operated manually by an expert, most teams would choose simplicity and speed over complex and nuanced editing options.

“You can spend a few weeks learning to operate the software so that fixing the lighting in the photo would take you 20 minutes — or you could download a tool that would do it automatically in a few seconds. Would the latter option provide more flexibility? Absolutely not. But would it make more sense resource-wise? Definitely. Finally, if the resulting quality is great anyway, why would a business choose a more difficult path?” says Eugene Ustinenkov, CEO of SoftOrbits with more than 10 years of software development expertise.

Seeing the success of its strategy, SoftOrbits has decided to double down on it in several ways. The team has already implemented AI automation features into seven of its utilities and plans to expand on this trend in the future. Not only that, SoftOrbits is currently undergoing a transition process, switching to a different distribution model to increase accessibility and convenience for users.

“We’ve been considering SaaS for a long time, and now we are fully committed to it. SoftOrbits has provided some SaaS functionalities for its corporate partners, but we aim to make it our entire distribution model and ensure that there are no hardware requirements for any user. While admittedly it is not a quick or easy thing to achieve, we look forward to it and suggest you stay tuned for updates,” says Hannes Jansen, writer and editor at SoftOrbits.
