Hundreds of people to attend Tafwyl at Cardiff Castle this weekend

Tafwyl has been selected by Welsh Government to be part of a Covid test event series, and is open to an audience of 500 people which will be made up of pre-booked parties of between 4 & 6 people between 5pm & 9pm on Saturday 15 May.

To manage travel, applications are open to over 18 years old residents of Cardiff, and everyone attending will be asked to bring ID. Successful parties have been asked to complete a series of steps beforehand in order to attend safely, including taking a PCR test a maximum of 5 days before the event as well as a Lateral Flow Test 24 hours before arrival.

Parties were selected at random and received details on the pre-event testing requirement and arrival process.

As part of the Welsh Government Covid test event series, Tafwyl has been working hard with Welsh Government and Public Health officials to ensure all Covid safety precautions are in place, including staggered arrival times, social distancing and a one-way system for high footfall areas.

To manage the audience, selected parties will be seated at tables for the event, rather than roaming, with table service available for food and drink. Stalls onsite include Van Goffi, Keralan Karavan, The Grazing Shed and The Fritter Shack.

Live music includes Ani Glass; Gwilym; and Geraint Jarman.

Tafwyl digidol, the digital Tafwyl will still be streamed on the platform AM, live from the festival’s home at Cardiff Castle and hosted by presenters Huw Stephens, Seren Jones and Tara Bethan for everyone to enjoy from home.

Last year, Tafwyl was hosted digitally for the first time due to Covid restrictions, attracting a global audience of more than 25,000 who tuned in online to enjoy Cardiff’s annual celebration of Welsh arts and culture.
