Jurassic Kingdom is coming to Cardiff’s Bute Park this summer

This August, Cardiff’s Bute Park will be transformed into a prehistoric world. Jurassic Kingdom: Where Dinosaurs Come To Life, is an interactive, life-sized replica experience, where you will see more teeth in one hour then you will see in your whole life.

Expect to come face to face with a 26m long Diplodocus and the notorious Tyrannosaurus Rex, while learning about every predator from over 200 million years ago. Remember to look up, there will be some in the trees!

Go and meet over 30 dinosaurs from the Saturday 11- Monday 27 August, and discover them hiding all around the park, giving children a chance to experience the sheer size and scale of the dinos. The creatures come to life before your eyes, with their tails, eyes, heads and arms moving and making you jump with their raging roars.

Naz Kabir, Event Director at Weli Creative, the company behind Jurassic Kingdom, said,
“We are extremely excited to bring our tour to Cardiff for the first time this August.

“Being the first outdoor, touring, animatronic dinosaur experience of its kind to hit the UK, having Cardiff as one of our five stops and being at the end of the summer, is the perfect chance for children to experience this exciting and educational tour.”
With dinosaurs currently being all the rage, children of Cardiff will be in awe of the realistic set up at Jurassic Kingdom. For school groups and families to learn all about how dinosaurs lived, a 30 minute viewing experience produced by the BBC will play on a large projection screen in the educational marquee.

The mini-dinosaur paleontologists among us will be able to dig for bones in an excavation area.

Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Peter Bradbury, said:
“Coopers Field is the perfect setting for the Jurassic Kingdom spectacle and we are looking forward to hosting the experience during the summer holidays.

“Children of all ages will be able to get up close to more than 30 animated installations and enjoy playing intrepid explorers to discover the different species around the park. It’s going to be a great adventure and is another fantastic family event in Cardiff’s parks.”

For when the gang gets peckish or thirsty, there will be a herd of street food and drink vendors to keep their energy up. A retail marquee will be selling a range of educational and entertaining branded merchandise so dinosaur-lovers can remember their experience.
