Renowned luxury family jeweller, Laings, has launched a state-of-the-art Rolex Authorised Service Centre in Cardiff, bringing an exclusive new offering to clients in Wales.

The recently launched workshop has underscored its after-sales authority by achieving the prestigious Rolex Authorised Service Centre status. In line with the Rolex Service Procedure, and drawing on Laings in-house Rolex accredited watchmakers’ expertise, the service offers clients a new, elevated guarantee that their timepieces will be serviced to the exemplary standards of the renowned brand.

As part of this overall service enhancement, clients can take advantage of a Rolex two-year international service guarantee covering the parts and labour of each watch. Laings introduced its partnership with Rolex to Cardiff in 2021 and continues to nurture its relationship with the brand. Introducing the Rolex Authorised Service Centre in 2023 supports in developing client relations, with a full, on-the-ground service that offers both trust and convenience.

Building on its already considerable presence in the city following a recent £3m investment into its showroom at St David’s, the Rolex Authorised Service Centre combines the latest technology with age old skills, providing specialist services and a wide range of expertise to clients.

At the helm of the Service Centre is Robert Quin, a Watchmaker who joined Laings following his move to Cardiff in August, bringing more than a decade of industry experience with him. Since joining the luxury family business, Robert has completed the esteemed Rolex training, earning him a position in the brand’s World Service network and the authority to offer Rolex servicing. With his exemplary track record and knowledge of watch brands, Robert is supporting Laings’ focus on bolstering its luxury watch brand offering and aftercare services.

Robert Quin said: “It is a huge privilege to work in a newly established Service Centre, which provides modern tools, technology and equipment – as well as the opportunity to further expand my horology skills.

“This is certainly a career highlight for me, being able to provide clients with a unique, personalised service, set to a standard recognised by Rolex.”

Robert, who prides himself on the intricacies and skills required for a career in horology, continued: “I’ve always been interested in engineering and watches, so I’m thrilled that I have the opportunity to combine my two passions in a role which will help clients to enjoy many more years out of their beloved watches.

In launching the Service Centre with a Rolex accreditation, Laings is the exclusive destination to ensure an experienced, skilled service and aftersales offering for luxury watches.

The news marks the latest in a series of investment announcements from the business, which is undergoing a multi-layered expansion plan, transforming the family-run jewellers’ showrooms and workshops throughout the UK.

Stuart McDowell, Managing Director of Laings, said: “Craftsmanship and expertise are the founding principles of our story and success – and we’ve honoured this legacy for more than 180 years. As we expand our client offering, we have a renewed focus on ensuring our workshops match the high level of passion, dedication and skills as our showrooms. Our continuing positive relationship with Rolex, and the introduction of a Rolex Authorised Service Centre ensures our service teams will truly flourish, and I’m confident we will continue to attract new, extraordinary talent to our brand.”

In a deliberate move to reimagine the full customer experience, whilst ensuring traditional jewellers’ crafts are secured for years to come, Laings is focused on ensuring staff are provided with exemplary training and the best of tools and equipment.

Head of Service, Serena Gough, who is leading the company’s workshop expansion plan, said: “Renovating and enhancing our workshops reflects Laings’ commitment to investing in our people, bringing new life into the craft for future generations and expanding our offering to clients. Our partnerships with brands such as Rolex, provide opportunities for our brand and our people to grow, and hone in on the expertise and skills needed for their roles.

“Our Laings Services and workshop teams are at the heart of our business, and we’re focused on expanding opportunities through collaborative environments, where skills, passion and expertise can be shared across our business and with our clients.”
