Following an entire year without the usual run of outdoor music events, Sophia Gardens has announced a huge evening for music fans this September.

Fans of Queen will be treated to a tribute evening to one of the world’s most iconic rock bands, from a collection of performers from London’s West End.

The event, ‘An Evening of Queen’ will take place on September 26 and will feature hits from the band’s renowned back catalogue of tracks, with favorites such as Bohemian Rhapsody being heard across Sophia Gardens.

Earlier this summer, the sports venue hosted three international fixtures as well as the much-anticipated new format of cricket, The Hundred.

The home of Glamorgan Cricket is looking forward to welcoming hundreds of music fans by bringing the Queen tribute event to the heart of Cardiff.

Head of Commercial, Huw Warren, said: “This is a hugely exciting time for Sophia Gardens as we look to reopen our concert and event business after the pandemic. We’re delighted to announce ‘An Evening of Queen’ in our fantastic venue here in the centre of the Welsh capital.

“Not only do we host some of the biggest cricket matches in the world, but we have plenty of space, and a fantastic set-up of food and drink stalls to be able to host outdoor concert events such as this one.

“Off the back of our successful cricket fixtures earlier this summer, we’re looking forward to continuing on this positive roll and hosting a fantastic night of music and looking forward to providing a warm Welsh welcome to our outdoor concert-goers once more.”

Music fans enjoyed a similar event at Sophia Gardens in 2018, ‘A Night With Abba’, which proved really popular as tickets sold out in just over two weeks.

Tickets are now on sale and prices start at £27 for standing general admission tickets and £32.50 for seated.

To book tickets visit the Glamorgan Cricket Website or call 02920 419 311.
