Colwyn BID (Business Improvement District) Manager Cheryl Williams visited Ysgol Babanod Mochdre on behalf of firms across Rhos on Sea, Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn and Mochdre.
Their successful Easter fete – funded by Colwyn BID – was attended by dozens of local companies, charities and organisations, who helped raised money for new play equipment.

Colwyn BID Manager Cheryl Williams met pupils and teachers to tell them the good news, and said: “This is what the BID is all about, giving back to our community and supporting projects and events that will ultimately benefit families and businesses in the Bay of Colwyn.
“It was a pleasure to meet the children and I’m so happy we were able to contribute towards the redevelopment of the school playground.
“The Mochdre businesses in particular wanted to help the school so we were delighted to be able to get behind the event.”
Among the firms at the Easter fete was Be My Bear, whose owner Pippa Thomas added: “It was a great day and we are proud to have been a part of it. Seeing the children’s smiling faces has made it even more worthwhile.”
Visitors to the fete enjoyed face painting, stalls, games, competitions and entertainment from Heart FM radio station and the Wheelie Play Bus.
More than 20 prizes were donated from businesses including BOCS Self Storage, Barton’s Windows, Fast Way To Fitness, Hungry’s café and Sheldon’s bistro and wine bar.
Headteacher Rhian Jones thanked Colwyn BID and the companies for their generosity.
“The event was a big success with people coming from all over the area to take part in the many activities we had taking place,” said Mrs Jones.
“The money will go a long way towards reopening the play area, so can I again thank them for their continued support.”
The Colwyn BID social enterprise has had a busy start to the year, supporting and launching initiatives including the unveiling of a new speed test along the Bay of Colwyn promenade, which will form part of the Wales Rally GB section of the FIA World Rally Championship.
Ms Williams says there are more projects in the pipeline for 2019/20 and is urging business owners to attend upcoming networking events to find out more.
The first will be held at their offices on Wynnstay Road, Colwyn Bay, on Thursday June 6, before another opportunity to hear about upcoming plans at Le Sport Health and Fitness centre, Rhos on Sea, on Thursday July 11. The event is open to Colwyn BID levy-paying businesses only.
