The Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill will open at The J-Shed in the popular SA1 area of the city and is expected to start welcoming guests in the early summer.
Regarded by many to be the greatest ever UK chef, the famed restaurateur has led the UK gastronomy scene for over 30 years and is regarded by many to have single-handedly dragged it to being at the forefront of modern cooking.
Having helped kick-start the careers of many famous chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal and Jason Atherton, all of whom trained under him, he has now confirmed that his latest restaurant will be at the popular waterside location which has undergone a renaissance in recent years.
Famed for his no-nonsense approach, he is looking forward to bringing his own brand of dining to the city with the restaurant comprising everything you would expect from a traditional steakhouse but with the superior quality synonymous from someone of his reputation.
The new Steakhouse Bar & Grill will replace what was La Parrilla which closed in January and follows a deal between business partners Steve Lewis and David Bellis who have acquired the property, and Black and White Hospitality, which is the franchising arm of Pierre White’s restaurants.
Bringing to life Marco’s own philosophy of what he describes as ‘affordable glamour’, the Steakhouse Bar & Grill’s exciting and dining experience includes signature steaks, and timeless English and French classics.
The menu is exclusively curated by Marco himself and includes a mix of childhood favourites and modern-day delicacies. The restaurant will also serve a delicious range of cocktails that are perfectly matched to the venue’s waterside location which will boast outside seating area.
The team has now started work on getting the new venue ready to open later in the year in line with the high expectations of today’s business and leisure guests.
Steve Lewis said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working alongside Black & White Hospitality on this exciting restaurant and bar scheme; this is great news for the city and is fantastic news for the regeneration of the area.
“It’s a hugely exciting addition that will, we believe, offer a first-class drinking and dining experience and is perfect for this stunning waterside location.”
David added: “The arrival of Marco’s steakhouse will further reinforce Swansea as an up and coming food and drink destination, raising the bar once more in terms of what people can come to expect at hospitality venues in the city. We look forward to welcoming guests when it opens early summer.
I have been heavily involved in hospitality in this area and South Wales since early 2017 and the passion for great food and drink is just continuing to grow. With the appetite for this style of bar and food collaboration ever increasing, this opportunity is one that greatly excites my business partner Steve and I.
“I’d also like to thank Leader of Swansea Council Rob Stewart who has been very supportive in helping us bring this well known brand to the city. Years ago Rob and I met and talked passionately about the regeneration of the waterside and this deal is another piece of the jigsaw that will help make Swansea a fantastic destination for both business and leisure. It’s great to see forecasted investment and regeneration coming to fruition and I hope that it encourages others to further invest into Swansea city.”
Leader of Swansea Council, Rob Stewart said:
“I’m hugely excited that Marco Pierre White will be bringing a fantastic dining experience to Swansea. Our city is seeing huge investment and regeneration at present including our new Digital arena complex, helping us become a wonderful new 21st Century destination. I want to pay tribute to David and Steve for their work in helping regenerate Swansea’s hospitality experience and for bringing the brand to Swansea. I’m sure it will be a huge success and is a welcome addition to our city”
Nick Taplin, Chairman and CEO of Black and White Hospitality added:
“This is fantastic news for Swansea and will be Marco’s second restaurant in Wales. The Steakhouse fits perfectly with The J-Shed and will help to attract more people to enjoy food and drink on Swansea’s burgeoning waterside. This is an amazing opportunity for everyone and we look forward to our second but not last restaurant in Wales.”
