South-east Wales housing association Melin Homes is working with social enterprise Celtic Offsite to bring new affordable housing to Llanishen, Chepstow.

The Church Road development will consist of eight properties, developed and managed by Melin Homes.

Celtic Offsite, a social enterprise within the United Welsh Group, is providing timber frame structures for the new homes, which were manufactured from their factory in Caerphilly.

Development contractor M & J Cosgrove Construction Ltd is completing the build of the homes on site.

Neil Robins, Managing Director of Celtic Offsite said:

“We are committed to bringing more affordable, energy-efficient housing to South Wales, and this opportunity to work with Melin Homes and M & J Cosgrove Construction Ltd to create more homes for Chepstow is a positive step.”

The new properties at Church Road will contribute towards Melin Homes’ development plans to create more green, affordable homes that are cheaper for people to use and enjoy.

The two and three-bedroom homes will be available for people seeking affordable housing through the Monmouthshire County Council housing list.

Melin Homes Director of Development Gerrard Williams said: “For us, as a social landlord, it’s not only important to do what we can to minimise our impact on the environment, but also to create homes that are affordable. By working in partnership, we can further develop initiatives to improve the energy efficiency of our homes and hopefully also lower energy bills for our residents.”
