Newport-based recruiter celebrates North West expansion with office move

Following the announcement of high-level regeneration projects in South Cheshire, leading specialist recruitment agency Acorn has relocated its Crewe branch to Edleston Road in the town centre.

This latest investment confirms Acorn’s ongoing strategy for growth in North West England. The company currently has four branches in the region – in Crewe, Manchester, Preston, and Widnes – with an additional 34 UK-wide and further expansion plans in the pipeline.

The Crewe branch specialises in providing temporary and permanent staff to businesses of all sizes, from start-ups to international leaders in Crewe and surrounding areas. With extensive experience in managing contracts across the UK, Acorn provides staff within a number of specialist sectors; including industrial, contract packing, driving, warehousing and logistics, construction, trade and commercial office support and administration.

The move coincides with Cheshire East Council’s announcement of a major transformation to Crewe’s town centre, set to start this summer. An enticing package of road works, new bus station, multi-storey car park and cinema as well as new shops and restaurants will be part of the transformation plans, heralding a new era for the town and South Cheshire as a whole and supporting the predicted growth of 51,000 more residents for the area by 2030.

The development of a HS2 Hub station, including a redesigned junction for Crewe, platform extensions and a high-speed rail service to Stoke-on-Trent, will provide a huge boost to the local economy, with the Engineering & Design Technical College in Crewe already attracting new, high-calibre talent to the area.

Branch Manager for Acorn’s Crewe branch, Mark Astbury, said:

“We’re delighted with our new central location on Edleston Road. Crewe is undergoing some major changes, and it’s important that we continue to deliver our recruitment offering at the heart of the action in the town centre.

“Here at Acorn we’re confident that this move will bring many opportunities, as we have a crucial role to play in connecting the growing number of people and employers in the area.”

Crewe’s office move closely follows the opening of a brand new branch in Manchester, further strengthening Acorn’s rapidly increasing position in the North West. Offerings include Acorn’s specialist permanent division which operates UK-wide and  their Executive Search team specialising in senior and board-level positions.

Acorn’s Northern Operations Director Christian Ash added:

“This is an exciting time to be in recruitment, particularly in the North West where investment in local economies is thriving.

“Having been established in the North West for several years now, our new Crewe location allows us to develop our specialist recruitment offering further. We have already seen great growth potential materialise in the North West and across the UK, and we are confident that this new location will bring just as much success.”
