Long-standing Cardiff entertainment venue, The Red Dragon Centre, is hosting a charity fun day to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and St John Ambulance Cymru.

Taking place on Saturday 9 September, National Emergency Services Day, guests of all ages can take part in fun, educational activities hosted by South Wales Police and St Johns Ambulance Cymru.

Activities will take place between 11am – 4.30pm throughout the Centre and will include CPR and first aid training sessions, visits from police vehicles and wellbeing dogs, fingerprinting activities and more.

Everyone’s favourite yellow characters will also be roaming the Centre in support of St John’s Ambulance, with Rubble from Paw Patrol, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Pikachu from Pokémon amongst others available for meet and greet intervals between 12 – 4.30pm.

The day’s activities will be free, but participants will be encouraged to donate to the One Great Day appeal supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and St John’s Ambulance Cymru.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity raises funds for the hospital that takes care of 750 children and young people a day from all over the UK. This support can go on to fund rebuilding and refurbishment, support for families and children, research into children’s health and life-saving medical equipment.

St John’s Ambulance Cymru provides first aid treatment, training, and transport for communities across Wales. It is a volunteer-led, charitable non-governmental organisation dedicated to the teaching and practice of first aid and the support of the national emergency response system.

Emma Constantinou, marketing manager at The Red Dragon Centre, said: “Hosting an event for these amazing organisations is an honour for us. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to get involved with the exciting activities and raise money and awareness for two incredibly important charities on One Great Day.”

The Red Dragon Centre celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022 and is Cardiff Bay’s leading entertainment venue. The Centre houses a multitude of interactive, lifestyle and food and drink venues including Odeon Cinema, the home of Wales’ only IMAX screen, the Hollywood Bowl, Grosvenor Casino, Simply Gym, Five Guys, Spice Route, Volcano, Roots and Zaika.
