The Cardiff-based Orchard Media and Events Group has teamed up with the Football Association of Wales to help keep the capital’s homeless warm this winter.
The FAW is generously donating a significant number of branded jackets to Huggard, the Cardiff charity set up to tackle the growing issue of homelessness, and Orchard is the link player to help make it happen.
Huggard Chief Executive Richard Edwards said: “Whilst we endeavour to get homeless people off the streets and into accommodation, it’s plain for the people of Cardiff and visitors to see that there are still a number of rough sleepers in the city centre. We’re so grateful to the FAW for donating this clothing, which will be a big help, and so pleased to work with our friends at Orchard once again.”
Orchard has been working closely with Huggard over the past two years, designing a new website, collecting much needed items such as toiletries, and raising money and profile. Orchard Marketing Manager Emma Wordley said: “The Orchard team love it when we can connect our network together, helping a cause close to our hearts, and making great use of the generous offer from our clients and friends at the FAW.”
Orchard provide event management services to the FAW on Wales match days, they stage large scale international events for them, were responsible for the celebratory Euros homecoming, have made programmes for BBC Wales on the Welsh Women’s team, and are sponsors of the Welsh Premier Women’s League.
An FAW spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be able to contribute FA Wales items to Huggard as a part of the crucial work Orchard do with the charity and do hope that this donation will go some way in helping those suffering through homelessness in our capital city.”
