Pembroke care home sold as exiting owners retire

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Bush House Care Home in Pembroke, Wales.

Bush House Care Home is a well-regarded care home with an enviable reputation for delivering excellent quality care to up to 36 elderly residents.

The business occupies an impressive, Victorian former private residence that was converted to its current use in 1990. It has maintained many of its original features and is spacious throughout, with high ceilings and decorative features, and also enjoys picturesque views of the surrounding countryside.

The home has been owned by multiple operators, Fred and Gwladys Barnfield and their son, Jonathan, since 2009, and was brought to market to allow them to semi-retire.

Following a confidential sales process with Oliver McCarthy at Christie & Co, it has been purchased by Robin Appathurai who also owns another home in North Wales.

Jonathan Barnfield, former owner of Bush House, comments, “After 15 years of owning Bush House Care Home, we were sad to say goodbye to its brilliant staff and residents, but it was time for us to step away from ownership and enjoy our retirements. We’re pleased to be handing the business over to Robin, an experienced care home owner, and look forward to seeing how he takes it to further success.”

Oliver McCarthy, Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “It was a pleasure to assist the Barnfield family with this sale and handing the business over to Robin who I’m sure will build on its good reputation and quality of care. With a great level of interest garnered, this is another example of the strong appetite we’re seeing for operational homes in South Wales.”

Bush House Care Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
