Pembrokeshire Libraries to recognise and celebrate the incredible work of unpaid carers

Pembrokeshire libraries will this week hold a series of events to recognise and celebrate the incredible work of unpaid carers.

The Down Memory Lane events will be run across four sessions in Fishguard, Milford Haven, Tenby and Pembroke Dock libraries.

If you look after a friend, neighbour or family member and would like to socialise, share memories and experiences and find out about the support available to you, please go along to one of the sessions.

Tea and coffee will be provided.

The events take place at:

Fishguard Library (01437 776638)

o   Tuesday May 24th 2pm – 4pm

Milford Haven Library (01437 771888)

o   Wednesday May 25th 10am – midday

Tenby Library (01437 775151)

o   Thursday May 26th 10am – midday

Pembroke Dock Library (01437 775825)

o   Thursday May 26th 2pm – 4pm.

To help with the journey down memory lane there will also be a local history display and slide show in Fishguard Library (10am – midday on Tuesday 24th) and support to explore your family tree in Pembroke Dock Library (10am – midday, Thursday 26th).

Pennie Muir, Regional Project Support Manager – Carers at Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “It is excellent that Pembrokeshire libraries are holding some events for unpaid carers and I hope they will be well attended.

“Libraries provide carers with many resources to help them with their caring role, books, information, places to meet etc and these events will be another opportunity for unpaid carers to have a well-deserved break.

“The Pembrokeshire libraries are also engaged with the Investors in Carers scheme (a quality assurance scheme) and this work will be great evidence for their silver level, good luck.”
