Pembrokeshire ‘question time’ marks centenary of female suffrage

A special Pembrokeshire Question Time event will be held in Haverfordwest on Wednesday 18th April, celebrating the 100 year anniversary of female suffrage.

The event at County Hall will provide the opportunity for frank discussion of many current women’s issues, including the women’s movement, feminism, equal pay and #timesup.

Pembrokeshire Archives will be staging an exhibition on the local suffrage movement, and the Elections team will provide information on the local election process for those interested.

The Question Time panel will consist of Bernadine Rees OBE, Chair of the Hywel Dda Health Board; Sharron Lusher, Principal of Pembrokeshire College; Bethany Roberts, Chair of the Pembrokeshire Youth Assembly; Sue Leonard, Chief Officer of PAVS, and Cllr Pat Davies, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regulatory Services.

Guests include local students, members of local school councils and youth assemblies, and other organisations.

Members of the public are welcome to watch the discussions from the public gallery.

The event is being organised by Cllr Tessa Hodgson, Pembrokeshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Services.

She said: “This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the centenary of women’s suffrage and discuss issues related to the women’s movement.”

The event will be chaired by Cllr Paul Harries, Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council.

The Pembrokeshire Question Time event will be held this Wednesday, April 18th at 2pm at County Hall in Haverfordwest (SA61 1TP) in the Council Chamber.
