The Tourism & Events team at the Vale of Glamorgan Council have announced ‘I’r Môr’ ‘To the Sea’, a visual spectacle featuring wonderful performances and entertainment along Penarth Pier, Esplanade and Penarth town centre.
The event which is funded through UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund will take place on Saturday, 16th September.
Local community arts company ‘Splatch production’ have been commissioned to deliver a celebration of the arts.
The day will consist of multiple immersive circus and dance performances including walkabout characters, street performers and a spectacular tight rope walk across the sea later in the evening.
Celebrating the 2023 ‘Year of the Pier’, the performers will draw on the characters, community and history surrounding Penarth Pier.
A complimentary bus will also be available to visitors to connect the shopping and eating districts and view the live performers and circus entertainers from Penarth town centre to the Esplanade.
Cllr Lis Burnett, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council said: “‘I am delighted to see this event in Penarth as not only does it showcase one of the most stunning vistas in the region to visitors, but it also brings together the array of wonderful independent businesses in town in celebrating our location as one of the best visitor destinations in Wales.
“The Tourism & Events team are working with Penarth Business Group, and Penarth Town Council in strengthening the links between town centre events and local businesses to raise awareness of and encourage locals and visitors alike to ‘show love and shop local.”
