Police shut down cannabis factory in Barry

Five men have been arrested, drugs and cash seized, and a cannabis factory shut down following a day of action by police in Barry targeting those who deal in drugs across the community.

Following a series of intelligence led raids in the town on Wednesday (July 8th) aimed at tackling the supply of cannabis officers arrested a 40 year old man on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class B drugs.

Another 40 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis, two men aged 30 and 35 were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and a 30 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possessing a firearm without a certificate.

All five men are from Barry and were taken to Cardiff Bay police station where they were questioned and later released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Sarah Trigg of Barry CID said:  “Illegal drugs have no place in our society and we will continue to target those whose criminal activities blight the lives of the communities of Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.

“We are committed to disrupting and arresting those who profit from the vulnerable members of our communities and bring misery to the lives of many.

“This week’s activity will be repeated whenever we have information concerning the supply of drugs.  We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and there is no place for it in Barry.”
