Popular Swansea pub, The Dunvant, on Dunvant Road, has now reopened to the public following an exciting six-figure renovation designed to revitalise the existing site and give it a brand-new look and feel.
The Dunvant closed its doors at the beginning of September and has now reopened as a Greene King pub, following completion of major works both inside and out, reaffirming the popular Swansea pub as a central community space.
The inside of the pub has received a complete makeover to rejuvenate the pub and create a modern, welcoming atmosphere. Attractive new décor and new cosy furnishings create a modernised, vibrant aura whilst keeping a traditional pub vibe.
Meanwhile, structural changes have been made to maximise the use of the existing space and increase covers. Walls have been removed to create an open plan layout and the old bar has also been replaced by a new larger bar with a feature barrel in the centre.
The pub offers Sky and TNT Sport and will be showing all major matches for sport fans to enjoy, including all major boxing. Sports are now available outside for the first time ever with the addition of two new 75” TVs creating an outdoor viewing area.
Externally, the garden has been extended and guests can now enjoy a large, heated pergola, accommodating up to 50 people, complete with festoon lighting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat, even as we head into the colder autumn winter months.
Formerly a Hungry Horse site, the Dunvant has now reopened as a Greene King site with a delicious new menu, including a new lunch menu, tapas and seniors menu.
The drinks menu has also had a revamp, offering an exciting cocktail menu, a new range of beers and ales, plus customers will also find plenty of no and low alcoholic options on the menu, as well as a mocktail menu.
Enjoying an idyllic location not far from the Gower Peninsula, the pub aims to be a local community hot spot for all, whether it be for celebrations, sports, music or just a casual drink or bite to eat. It is even dog-friendly both in the bar and outside, meaning that those who want to bring their furry friends can do so.
The pub reopened with a bang, as the grand opening featured a caricaturist, live music and a special appearance by a well-known Swansea City footballer to officially celebrate the reopening. The pub also ran a competition on its social media channels to find ‘Swansea’s local hero’, who will have the privilege of cutting the ribbon on grand opening night. Swansea’s local hero was announced as Kevin Johns, who is a well-known and much-loved local featuring in local panto and theatre.
Dan Merchant, General Manager of The Dunvant said: “Our team at The Dunvant are excited to finally open our doors to the community following the exciting refurbishment.
“The revamp has brought a whole new lease of life to the pub, and we’re confident that customers will love our improved facilities, menu and more for an even better drinking and dining experience than ever before! Community is a central part of the pub and we’re so thrilled to welcome back regulars and new customers.”
Alongside seasonal events for Halloween and Christmas, the Dunvant hosts a regular programme of events, including game night on Monday’s, quiz every Wednesday and Sunday Fundays featuring everything from Rock N Roll Bingo to karaoke, plus monthly live music events.
The investment has provided a number of job opportunities to the local community and the pub has recruited over 25 new staff.
The pub is also sponsoring many local sporting groups including Dunvant Rugby Club and Dunvant & Three Crosses Football.
The Dunvant has reopened and is located on Dunvant Rd, Dunvant, Swansea SA2 7SL.
