Quadrant launches its free ‘Mad Hatter Crafternoon’ event

A wonderland of free, creative ‘crafternoons’ are launching in Swansea’s city centre, where a team of talented, local artists will be presenting a variety of marvellously messy and fun activities for the local community to enjoy.

Quadrant Shopping Centre will be hosting the ‘Mad Hatter Crafternoon’ event from Tuesday 7 August until Saturday 11 August between 11am and 3pm. It is open to everyone who has a flair for art or simply wants to have a go at doing something a bit different.

Embracing the fantastical world of ‘Alice in Wonderland’, each session will take on a different arts and crafts theme. Day one will see visitors take part in designing their own invitation to the Mad Hatter’s tea party, which can be posted to the White Rabbit in the centre’s ‘magical mailbox’.

Alice’s ship, Wonder, will be making a stop on day two, where budding sea-farers will have the chance to get their hands dirty making mermaid and pirate slime. Then it’s time to get ready for a very important date – the Mad Hatter’s tea party, with participants making their very own ‘hattinator’ or pocket watch.

And no tea party is complete without cake, or clay cake in this instance, and those taking part will be able to make their own ‘magic’ clay cake at the banquet table. The final activity will offer once last chance to step aboard Wonder to make ‘bon voyage’ badges, with adventurous wishes for an ocean quest.
