Repairs to a retaining wall next to Dinas Road will get underway next week – with the work expected to cause minimal disruption to road users and the community.
The wall is located just north of the A4058’s junction with Graigddu Road, and to the north of the bus stop layby.
RCT Council has appointed Kordel Contracting to undertake the remedial works over seven weeks from Monday, August 7.
The scheme will clear all vegetation from the wall, and will also reconstruct a section of the structure.
Repointing will take place to the full area of the parapet and retaining wall, while the copings will be reset.
Pedestrian access to Vicarage Road will be maintained at all times, while a small section of the nearby bus stop will be utilised for the contractor’s site compound.
No traffic management is required for the vast majority of the scheme, and traffic flow on the main road will be largely unaffected.
There will be a few instances where Stop/Go boards are needed for a single lane closure on Dinas Road for site deliveries – but these will be in the evening and will be no longer than 30 minutes at a time.
The work is funded through the 2023/24 Highways Capital Programme, using an allocation for Highways Structures.
