Pro Athlete Supplementation (PAS) Nutrition is a sports nutrition company based in Rhymney, founded in 2006 by Jonathan Williams, BSc, WRU National Squad Nutritionist and Darren Campbell, MBE, Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist.
Since 2016, former Welsh Rugby Union player Sam Warburton has also been a shareholder in the company, as well as acting as a brand ambassador. The company produces a wide range of sports nutrition products, including protein bars and shakes, whey protein supplements, energy gels and shots, and much more. The company has acted as Official Supplier of the Euros, Welsh Rugby Union and the Lions for the past two tours. PAS Nutrition also works with and supplies Sam Warburton’s training academy, SW7.
PAS Nutrition received £12,775 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This grant was dedicated towards PAS Nutrition through Caerphilly County Borough Council’s intervention of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This amount was equally match-funded by PAS Nutrition to purchase a state-of-the-art forklift to help with moving growing amount of stock and orders. This funding also has helped safeguard 3 jobs and create 1 new job.
There are future plans for growth in export market, including opening up South Africa, Middle East, India and Australia to reach new markets and garner new business. PAS is currently an exclusive distributor to Qatar.
Founder Jon Williams commented “The process of working with the Business Enterprise Renewal Team was easy, efficient, and straightforward and felt like they genuinely wanted to help. I was very well supported in the process. The forklift truck is going to be invaluable, as we wouldn’t be able to load trucks without it.”
Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration & Climate Change said “Great to hear how PAS Nutrition are operating out of their headquarters in Rhymney. Also, it was brilliant to chat to Sam about the role he plays with the company and the plans for the future. We have been delighted to support PAS Nutrition through the Caerphilly Enterprise Fund.”
