Rugbytots stadium tour cycle ride aims to surpass £1m milestone

Rugbytots, the world’s leading rugby play programme, is gearing up for an extraordinary endeavour to push their charitable efforts beyond the £1 million mark.

Through relentless dedication and support, they have donated over £900,000 to various children’s projects including £750,000 for Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, who Rugbytots has supported since 2015.

At the heart of Rugbytots’ journey towards this remarkable achievement are the passionate efforts of the youngest members of their community. More than 5,000 children attending Rugbytots events around the country have been taking part in the initiative to raise funds through “Try-athlon” activities, a unique and fun approach to engage children in supporting their less fortunate peers. Through these activities, the young Rugbytots not only learn the skills of the game but also the invaluable lesson of helping others in need.

The pinnacle of Rugbytots’ fundraising endeavours is the upcoming Rugbytots Stadium Tour Cycle Ride, scheduled to take place from 1st to the 3rd of September. This ambitious event will see a group of 24 volunteers from the Rugbytots franchisees across the UK embark on an epic 380km cycling journey, starting at Exeter Chief’s Sandy Park stadium and ending at the home of Welsh Rugby, the iconic Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Cyclists will have the opportunity to climb the iconic Cheddar Gorge, while the route will also take them past Bristol Bears’ Ashton Gate stadium and Bath Rugby’s iconic Recreation Ground. The cycle is set to raise an impressive £150,000, which will tip Rugbytots’ fundraising efforts past the momentous £1 million mark.

The funds raised through the Stadium Tour Cycle Ride will be directed towards Wooden Spoon’s life-changing projects, benefiting vulnerable children and young people across the UK and Ireland. In a particularly special touch, a selected project will offer Rugbytots franchisees the opportunity to be directly involved in its creation. This hands-on involvement ensures that those who have contributed their efforts can witness first-hand the positive impact their contributions have made.

Max Webb, Rugbytots Founder and Managing Director commented: “Once again, it is a privilege for me to be able to organise the Rugbytots network in such a positive way and watch our franchisees, coaches and Rugbytots families all come together to raise much needed funds for an incredible charity.

“I would like to thank every person who has been involved since we started raising money in 2008 and look forward to breaking the £1 million mark in the next few weeks whilst we take on the Rugbytots Stadium Tour Cycle Ride.”

Sarah Webb, Wooden Spoon CEO, added: “We’ve worked with Rugbytots since 2015 during which time they’ve become one of our most valued partners. The Rugbytots programme has harnessed the incredible power of rugby to raise vital funds for our projects.

“I’d like to congratulate the Rugbytots team on what is set to be a landmark achievement raising £1 million. And a very special thank you to the hundreds of children who have come through the programme whose enthusiasm, energy and burgeoning love for the sport helps support other children less fortunate than themselves.”
