A staff member at Rydal Penrhos turned in a fantastic performance at a national sailing event.
Max Todd, who is responsible for leading the school’s highly successful sailing programme, travelled to Rutland Sailing Club to compete at the WASZP National Championships last weekend.
The coach began the event with a respectable fourth placed finish after race one, before he turned on the style to cross the line first in three straight to put him at the top of the leaderboard.
He followed this up with second place in race five, before he hopes of claiming the overall title were dealt a blow with sixth and fifth placed finishes thereafter.
Todd managed to regroup and achieve third place in race eight, before he finished the competition strongly with a fantastic triumph in the final race of the weekend.
This resulted in the programme head finishing in second spot overall, with only former World Champion Graham Priestly ahead of him.
This represents another significant achievement for the staff member, who has lofty ambitions on the national and international stage ahead of a busy summer on the water.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said:
“Max’s leadership has been one of the driving forces behind the phenomenal success of our Sailing programme, and he is also immensely talented which is reflected by this superb achievement.
“Hopefully he can continue to inspire our young sailors here at Rydal Penrhos not only with his coaching ability but with his competition efforts long into the future.”
