Journalist and broadcaster Sian Lloyd has joined City Hospice as their newest celebrity ambassador.

Sian is a familiar face to viewers across the UK, having presented national programmes such as BBC Breakfast, BBC Crimewatch Roadshow and Panorama.

Originally from Wrexham, Sian trained as a solicitor in London and Hong Kong before following her dream of becoming a journalist. Beginning her television and radio career in Wales on primetime programmes BBC Wales Today and Good Evening Wales, Sian has since reported on some of the key moments in recent history as a senior correspondent for the BBC.

In addition to her broadcasting career, Sian is an experienced awards host and conference chair with extensive knowledge of the live events sector. In one of her first appearances as a City Hospice ambassador, Sian will be putting these skills to good use when hosting the charity’s Christmas remembrance event in the gardens of the hospice in December.

City Hospice is Cardiff’s local hospice, providing care to people with terminal and life limiting illnesses such as cancer, dementia, motor neurone disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital, City Hospice provides care and compassion to 550 patients at any one time, in addition to essential counselling and support services for the families of their patients.

Sian Lloyd said: “I’ve been proud to support the work of the charity by helping with fundraising events for many years and have seen how the team at City Hospice has continued to develop and grow.

“I’m delighted to become an ambassador and look forward to helping them expand their work further, reaching even more patients and their families, for whom they provide vital care and support at the time when they need it the most.”

Liz Andrews, Chief Executive at City Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Sian has accepted the role as charity ambassador. We are grateful for her ongoing support of our charity. Her role will be invaluable in raising awareness of our work and will help us to continue to provide care and compassion to patients and families in the community.”
