Imagine sipping on an expertly crafted cocktail filled to the brim with local botanicals, whilst gazing out over the lush greens of the Wye Valley. Meanwhile, an award-winning street food trader is preparing lunch.
Following the most recent hospitality announcement from the Welsh Government, this delicious daydream could become a reality this summer, as Silver Circle Distillery in Monmouthshire has announced a new summer program of ‘Street Food Saturday’ events.
Every second Saturday of the month (from May to September), the craft distillery based in Catbrook (near Tintern Abbey) will invite a different street food trader to ‘pop up’ for the day.
With stunning views across the Wye Valley and plenty of space for up to 50 socially-distanced guests per sitting, the distillery – which is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – will serve up a selection of expertly crafted cocktails to accompany the food.
The following traders are confirmed to appear over the summer series:
- Saturday 8th May – American BBQ with Hungry Monkey
- Saturday 12th June – Jerk Chicken with The HogFather
- Saturday 10th July – Burgers with The Beefy Boys
- Saturday 14th Aug – Spicy Meze with Parva Spices
- Saturday 11th Sep – Tacos with The Bearded Taco
Silver Circle Distillery was set up in 2019 by Nina and Joe Howden. After connecting over a shared love of food, drink and nature, they set up the business with the intention of using local ingredients to create unique spirits and distillations.
Nina said, “We have always loved experimenting with flavour pairings, and matching good cocktails with good food, so we’re really looking forward to hosting these ‘Street Food Saturday’ events over the summer.
We’ve been working hard during lockdown and over the winter to get everything ready, and now we can’t wait to showcase some of our new cocktail recipes, whilst some of our favourite traders take care of the food.”
Tables at Silver Circle Distillery’s first three ‘Street Food Saturday’ events are now available for pre-booking here: http://bit.ly/StreetFoodSaturday.
There will be room for a limited number of walk-ins at each event.
Outside of the ‘Street Food Saturday’ events, the distillery will be open for outdoor drinks every weekend, as well as offering bottles to take away from the distillery shop.
