Silver Circle Distillery is set to open a pop-up tasting room and craft spirits shop in Chepstow town centre later this month.
Founded by Nina and Joe Howden in June 2019, Silver Circle Distillery creates award-winning, handmade craft spirits in the Monmouthshire village of Catbrook.
A new tasting room and shop on Moor Street in Chepstow town centre will sell a variety of Silver Circle’s best-selling spirits, and a curated collection of food & drink themed gifts and curiosities.
Initially opening on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for a temporary period of six months, the shop will also offer Make Your Own Gin Experiences for up to eight people once a week (Saturdays), as well as tutored tasting sessions for up to twelve people (Thursdays to Saturdays).
Plans for Silver Circle’s new tasting room follow on from Silver Circle Aquavit (Wales’ only aquavit) picking up a silver award at the International Wine and Spirits Competition last month – the world’s largest and most influential international spirit awards.
To celebrate – and introduce more people to aquavit – a £12 Aquavit Taster Board (featuring a taster of Silver Circle Aquavit along with two miniature aquavit cocktails) will be available to ‘drink in’ at the new shop.
Two more £12 drinks taster boards will be available; a Gin Taster Board (featuring Wye Valley Gin, Gunga Gin, and Silver Circle’s Catbrook Honey Gin), and a Cocktail Taster Board (featuring three of Silver Circle’s small batch, ready-to-drink cocktails).
Over the summer there are plans for a series of food & drink themed events to take place at the new shop – from after-hours tastings, to workshops and other events.
Silver Circle co-founder Joe Howden said, “We’re really excited to be opening this pop-up tasting room, which will place equal importance on experiences and retail, allowing customers to sample and learn about our spirits and cocktails in a shop setting.
“We hope to add to the growing food and drink offering of Chepstow, and encourage more visitors to come and spend time here – it’s a brilliant, picturesque little town and there’s lots to do if you’re visiting. There are great transport links from Bristol and Cardiff, and it’s a perfect stop off for visitors to the Wye Valley and Forest Of Dean. There are pubs aplenty – including one of the best pubs in Wales, The Queen’s Head Micropub, and in town you will also find Trim’s Town Gate Butchery – the best Butcher in Wales; multi-award winning pizzeria Stone Rock; and the excellent wine shop, Tell Me Wine.
“We’re looking forward to joining the community here.”
Silver Circle pop-up tasting room & shop is set to open on April 30th.
