South Wales runner tackles ‘manhood masterpiece’ fundraiser for men’s health

Terry Rosoman, attempting to create the World's Largest GPS Manhood

Terry Rosoman, from South Wales is attempting to create the World’s Largest GPS Manhood (on foot) to raise money for men’s health charity, Movember

On November 1, the 39-year-old will set off from Abergavenny train station and run 75 miles across the challenging Brecon Beacons to create his “Movember Manhood Masterpiece” on GPS.

Terry explains: ‘Ten years ago I was in the worst physical and mental state of my life. Obese, unfit and a heavy binge drinker. Endurance challenges helped me turn my life around. By undertaking this challenge, I hope to promote that message to those suffering that having an aim in life has the power to turn your life around.

Father of two Terry will cover 10,000 feet of elevation during his gruelling 24-hour challenge. He hopes his arduous (and comical) attempt will help raise money for charity as well as raising awareness of men’s health issues.

‘I want to raise at least £5,000 for Movember to support its vital work in men’s health,’ he says. ‘This includes mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer. I hope what I’m doing will not only bring a smile to people’s faces but also help start conversations about men’s health.’

Terry’s testicular route includes:

Friday 1st November
17:00  Start – Abergavenny Train Station, NP7 5HS

Saturday 2nd November
00:00  Three Tuns – Broad St, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford HR3 5DB
01:30  Glasbury, HR3 5NN
02:00  The Three Cocks – Three Cocks, Brecon LD3 0RT, UK
09:30  The Bear Hotel – Three Cocks, Brecon LD3 0RT, UK
11:00  The Towpath Inn Main Rd, Gilwern, Abergavenny NP7 0AU
14:00  The Towpath Inn Main Rd, Gilwern, Abergavenny NP7 0AU
17:00  Finish – Abergavenny Train Station, NP7 5HS

Terry adds: ‘Challenges give us purpose, a sense of achievement, and help us forge stronger bodies and mind in order to deal with the stresses and pressures of life. That’s why I set up the online challenge platform Rokman and why I am passionate about supporting charities like Movember.’

Men’s health is a national concern. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons.

Movember is a month-long fundraising and awareness campaign starting November 1st.

During Movember, men sign up to Grow a moustache for 30 days, getting friends, family and colleagues to donate to their effort. Moustache or no moustache there are countless ways to show support and get involved, from moving 60km in the month, hosting an event or taking on an epic challenge– bringing together friends to change the face of men’s health.
