Spanish Ambassador to meet with Welsh businesses at Cardiff event

The Spanish ambassador to the UK, Carlos Bastarreche, will meet with Welsh businesses in Cardiff later this month to encourage them to learn more about the trading opportunities that exist between the two countries.

The event, which is being organised by BeTheSpark and supported by NatWest Cymru, will also be attended by Marcelino Castrillo, Managing Director of NatWest Business & Premier Banking, and representatives from Invest in Spain ICEX.

Spain is home to the world’s fourteenth largest economy and the free event, which will take place on June 27 at Cardiff’s Old Library, will give SMEs the chance to learn how they can tap into this thriving network through new markets, exports and investment opportunities.

Caroline Thompson, CEO of BeTheSpark, a movement set-up to encourage innovation driven entrepreneurship and create a more visible, simple and connected entrepreneurial landscape in Wales, said:

“This event is a great opportunity for Wales and Spain to connect, share best practice and ignite entrepreneurship across borders. BeTheSpark are thrilled to host this event and welcome Welsh SMEs to attend.

“Spain’s economy is made up of many vibrant and growing sectors – both traditional and high-tech – and these markets give SMEs in Wales the chance to expand their own customer base whilst developing new and innovative trading opportunities. Trading internationally doesn’t have to be a daunting process and this event will give Welsh businesses the chance to learn more about how they can access and develop new opportunities with Spain’s consumer markets.”

Kevin Morgan, Senior Director, Wales Business Banking at NatWest Cymru, said:

“Supporting businesses in Wales and helping them grow is fundamental to our work as a bank and as part of these efforts we have helped a number of SMEs wanting to engage with European and global markets. These trading areas represent real opportunities for Welsh businesses, which is why we have helped organise this event. We are committed to ensuring as many SMEs in Wales wanting to access international markets are able to do so and achieve their full potential.”
