Swansea Aquatics swimmers dominate west wales championships

Kaden DIOUF picking up a bronze for 200 metre backstroke 14 year age group. Tiron HUGHES grabbed a bronze medal in the 11-year-old girls 100 metre Backstroke.

The City of Swansea Aquatics headed to West Wales Championships 11-13th Feburary in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. Over the weekend Swansea Aquatics swimmers put in a strong and resistant display bringing home 74 Golds, 60 Silvers, 54 Bronzes.

Assistant Head Coach Sam Jones said: “A fantastic individual display by the club, smashing into 2022, we demonstrated as a club depth of talent with picking up the haul of medals in the individual events picking up 188 medals over the 3 days meet.” Swansea Aquatics picked up the most medals in the West Wales region and demonstrated its dominance.

The club now switches its focus to its home meet Arena League Final 5th March in Cardiff where the team competes against some of the strongest teams in the United Kingdom. The last time club competed in the event was March 2020 weeks before the first lockdown.

Jones added “We [as a club] are excited to take our the strongest team to Cardiff to go up against the best and keep are a strong tradition of competing in the final.” The club finished 2nd in 2020 just behind Cardiff.
