IRONMAN UK has announced that IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea 2025 had sold out of general entries.

Over 2,500 athletes from all over the world are set to race, from countries such as the US, Germany and France with the majority of athletes racing on home soil. The race welcomes many first timer athletes as over 75% of the field are set to take on IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea for the first time, and 55% of the field are taking on their very first IRONMAN 70.3 race. It’s set up to be a special day for many!

As well as the first timers, the UK welcomes the IRONMAN Pro Series for the first time. The IRONMAN Pro Series is a performance-based triathlon competition contested between March and November 2025. It sees professional triathletes race to earn points and vie for the title of IRONMAN Pro Series Champion, in turn winning the greatest share of a $1.7 million bonus prize purse. Comprising 18 select IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 professional races at 17 events globally, pro triathletes may choose to compete at any combination of races within the IRONMAN Pro Series to maximise their points earning, with only their best five results included in their final score. A limit of three IRONMAN races may be included in the final points score, with the remainder being IRONMAN 70.3s. The triathlete that sits atop the men’s and women’s points standings at the conclusion of this year’s IRONMAN Pro Series will be crowned the Champion.

During the race, athletes will first take on a one-loop 1.2-mile (1.9km) swim begins at the Prince of Wales Dock before heading onto a one-loop 56-mile (90km) bike course through Mumbles along roads that hug the Gower’s coastal clifftops before cycling out through Rural Swansea and heading back along Swansea Bay into the city. Lastly, athletes will take on a 13.1-mile (21.1km) two loop run course which takes them from the city centre, out past the new eye-catching gold-coloured Swansea Arena, towards Mumbles before heading back towards the finish line at the Marina.

IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea Race Director, Rebecca Sutherland, said: “We are thrilled to have once again sold-out general entries for IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea 2025, as over 2,500 athletes are set to take to the start line this year. It’s a testament to not only the race, but the incredible host city of Swansea. We also can’t wait to welcome some of the world’s best professional triathletes to experience the course and put on a show for the brilliant local spectator support!”

Swansea Council cabinet member Robert Francis Davies said: “It’s great news that IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea is a sell-out yet again – and exciting that the 2025 event has been upgraded to the prestigious IRONMAN Pro Series. This means that Swansea will host some of the world’s top professional triathletes, alongside age-group competitors. It’ll bring even greater international attention to our city. Athletes, supporters, volunteers and the Swansea public recognise this as a world-class event, thanks to key factors such as our stunning natural environment and the warm welcome we give to visitors. IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea attracts thousands of athletes and spectators, significantly boosting the local economy and inspiring people to take part in and enjoy sport. We’re really looking forward to the 2025 event.”

If you missed out on a place at IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea and still want to take part, you can enter with a Nirvana Enhanced Athlete Experience Package. More information is available here.
