People with creative hobbies are being urged to get in touch with Swansea Council’s Glynn Vivian Art Gallery as part of a UK wide art project.
Inspiring information about their favourite pastimes will help celebrate the city’s creativity.
Some treasured hand-crafted artefacts will be exhibited in the city centre gallery or even further afield around the UK.
Items on display as part of The Hobby Cave project could range from costumes to crochet or from wood carvings to ceramics, robotics and origami.
It has been commissioned by arts organisation Artangel which is working on the scheme with arts locations across the UK and award-winning artist – and Spider-Man enthusiast – Hetain Patel.
Glynn Vivian curator Karen MacKinnon said: “We’re sure that people across Swansea and South Wales will love the opportunity to share their pastimes. I encourage them to make contact with Artangel.”
Artangel director Mariam Zulfiqar said: “The Hobby Cave will explore how individuals express their identity, character and creativity through their favourite pastimes.”
Hetain Patel said: “The creative act is really hopeful – with huge benefits to us individually – and something that connects us to others regardless of our differences.”
The Hobby Cave’s inaugural exhibition is due to take place in London this summer. Presentations will follow in 12 UK locations, including the Glynn Vivian, next year.
Details of hobbies can be submitted online.
