The Ivy Asia, Cardiff is set to open the doors to its first Asian-inspired concept in Wales on Tuesday, 20 September, with ribbon and dragon dancers performing in front of Cardiff Castle as reservations go live from today.

Serving theatrical drinks and cocktails alongside a delicious menu of tantalising dishes and DJ performances, this vibrant and playful destination will entertain guests from the moment they step inside.

On arrival, diners will be met by The Ivy Asia’s signature green onyx flooring, whilst the restaurant will feature two large cherry blossom trees and bespoke Paul Clifford artwork. Fitted beautifully with striking artwork, luxurious Asian fabrics, colourful wallpapers, and antiques, the space is designed to be elegant yet vibrant. Alongside the main restaurant and bar, guests will also be able to experience mezzanine level seating and a sushi bar, where dishes and delights will be prepared before their very eyes.

The Ivy Asia, Cardiff’s kitchen will be overseen by Executive Chef Simon Gregory, whilst dishes will take inspiration from cuisines spanning the continent of Asia. The menu will incorporate much-loved favourites from sister restaurants The Ivy Asia, Chelsea and The Ivy Asia, Brighton, with highlights including an extensive sushi and sashimi selection, such as wagyu beef tataki, salmon sashimi, spiced yuzu and avocado salsa, and yellowtail three ways. Vegetarian and plant-based options will include avocado crispy tofu, with a lime and ginger dressing, and roasted aubergine miso and masago arare.

Accompanying the menu will be a delicious selection of cocktails, sakes, wines, Champagnes and Jing speciality Asian teas. Cocktails include the Pineapple Sour, featuring 12-year-old whiskey, matcha, lemon, pineapple and a smoked coconut perfume, and the Shikou Spritz, a light and aromatic drink comprising Beefeater Gin, rose, petal liqueur, aloe vera, soda and prosecco.

Matt Tomkins, General Manager at The Ivy Asia, Cardiff, says: “We are pleased to confirm that The Ivy Asia’s newest restaurant will open on Tuesday, 20 September.
