The Lord’s Taverners Wales has raised £25K through its sell-out Christmas lunches

The two events, sponsored by Hodge Bank, were held at the Cardiff Marriott in December, and attracted more than 500 guests.

The guests included former British Lion John Taylor and former cricketer Alan Wilkins who both supported the Christmas lunches as auctioneers for the charity auctions.

Both lunches were compered by comedian Rod Woodward who starred in the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium in December.

Ed Meggitt, Chairman of the Lord’s Taverners Wales, said:

“We’re proud to see the success of our annual Christmas lunches. It’s great to see how the hard work of everyone involved ensures a first-class show and raises a significant amount of money for the charity.

“This year – our 35th year hosting the lunches – was no exception, and the £24,678 raised is incredible. We’re extremely grateful for everyone who joined our lunches and made it the success it was. I’d also like to thank everyone who supported us throughout 2018 to make this possible and are looking forward to a busy and successful 2019.”

The charity provides a wide range of support including disability cricket programmes, sports wheelchairs, sensory and play equipment facilities and minibuses for special needs schools.

This year’s Lord’s Taverners annual Christmas Lunches will take place – Friday, December 6, and Friday, December 13, 2019, at the Cardiff Marriott.

Booking details as well as details about the acts will be released shortly. Those looking to book are advised to do so early.
