The New Saints FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of Wales international, Maria Francis-Jones, subject to international clearance.

Francis-Jones, 21, has had previous spells with a variety of top-flight clubs, including Manchester City, Burnley, Cardiff City, Blackburn and Sheffield United. She has also captained Wales at U19s level and made her senior debut for the side in March 2020 against Estonia.

Following the recent announcement that TNS Women will play semi-professional football next season, Francis-Jones is a statement signing by the club, highlighting their desire to bring success to Park Hall Stadium.

As the side look to compete on all fronts next season, Francis-Jones’s experience and ability will give the squad a huge boost in their efforts to bring home some silverware.

Speaking on her delight at signing for the club, Francis-Jones said:

“I’m really excited to get started at Park Hall. The club has great ambitions which I can hopefully contribute to.

“I’m looking forward to playing in the Genero Adran Premier this season!”

Sharing her thoughts on the club’s new signing, Shauna Duffy, Head of Women and Girls’ Football, said:

“Maria has spent many years playing at the very top of the women’s game, so we’re delighted to have brought someone of her calibre into our squad.

“She’s still only 21 years old, but with her vast experiences, both at club and internationally, we know Maria will make a huge impact on the team as we prepare for the upcoming season”
