New research has revealed that Wales’ Aber Falls is the UK’s most Instagrammable waterfall.
A study by creative resource Design Bundles analysed Instagram hashtag data and the Trip Advisor rating and reviews of the UK’s most loved waterfalls to find the ten waterfalls with the highest ‘Wonder Score’.
The study reveals Aber Falls, located in Conwy County, Wales, is the most Instagrammable waterfall with a Wonder Score of 21.79. The hidden gem snapped a score of 8.75 with 25,631 posts under the hashtag #aberfalls and had a 3.05 score for the number of ratings – 446. The location boasts a spectacular circular walk leading to the falls and multiple stops described as “Wales’ best-kept secret”.
Black Water Falls in Ross and Cromarty picked the second spot with a Wonder score of 20.13 out of 30. It recorded 29,299 posts under the hashtag #blackwaterfalls awarding it the highest score of 10 points. It has the lowest review count of 19, scoring it 0.13 points. The photos highlight the natural stairway landscape of the fall, making it a pure attraction to capture.
Sitting in third place is Fort William’s Steall Waterfall, scoring 20.06. The fantasy waterfall earned the highest possible 10 out of 10 for the number of ratings and 0.06 for a fairly low 177 posts under the hashtag #steallwaterfall. The fall welcomes locals and visitors who are stunned by the sight in the bare mountains.

In fourth place is Grey Mare’s Tail in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, with a total score of 14.29. The view has 7,232 posts on Instagram hashtagged #greymarestail, awarding it 2.47 points; its rating on Trip Advisor scored it 1.82 points for 267 positive reviews. Posts include paintings of the waterfall and pet dogs accompanying visitors on their hike. Sunset views and seasonal effects give this waterfall its beautiful photos.
Also on the list are two waterfalls in Cumbria Lake District, England. They are Stanley Ghyll Force Waterfall and Garrigill Ashgill Force in sixth and tenth place, respectively.
