Blackwood Town Centre hosted the hugely successful Blackwood Spring Fair on Saturday 8th March, the first event of 2025. With over 6,000 visitors in attendance, it was the busiest day of the year so far.
Lots of families, couples and friends of all ages enjoyed the event. Involved in the fair were a huge number of stalls selling food, drinks, and craft, as well as others offering useful information. There was an abundance of free activities such as giant games, crazy golf, a bowling alley, animals and bird of prey displays. A new addition for this year was a busking pod which turned out to be a huge hit, with lots of picnic benches filled with people enjoying the atmosphere. The funfair was also the biggest hosted in any of the town centre events in the county borough, with a great selection of rides.
In attendance were visitors from as far as Cowbridge, Llanwit Major, Milford Haven, Swansea, Bristol, Hereford, Totnes and Bilston.
Sgt. Liam Brown, Gwent Police, commented “It was a real privilege for the team to play a part in the successful return of the fair, which gave us opportunities to listen to the public about their concerns, reassure them about the work we’re doing, and also celebrate the great community spirit the town has – which was fully on show on Saturday.”
Yvonne Murphy of The Talking Shop said “The Talking Shop was delighted to be part of the Blackwood Spring Fair celebrations and coincide with celebrations for International Women’s Day. We were delighted to welcome lots of visitors of all ages and had a busy day filled with creativity, conversation, information and democratic deliberation. Thank you to all our visitors.”
Sian’s Emporium said, “Caerphilly events, what good looks like.”
Hays Travel Blackwood also commented “We would like to Thank everyone who came to our stand on Saturday as we celebrated our Disney weekend at Blackwood’s Spring Fair. Blackwood town was buzzing, and we had some Fab goodies to give away to everyone who came and took part in our Spin the Wheel. We had over 100 entries into our prize Draw to win a £250 Hays Travel Gift Card!”
