Top 11 places to visit in Delhi

Delhi is the capital of India and also a Union territory. There are many places that one can visit in Delhi and no one can deny the fact that Delhi is a traveller’s paradise. There are a variety of places in this city to visit like the forts, markets, Mughal grandeurs, etc. To get the possible experience in Delhi, one can plan your stay at the hostels in Delhi.   

Following are some of the places that one must visit in Delhi:  

1. India Gate: India Gate is a very famous place in Delhi which one must visit. It is open every day at all times so one can visit whenever they want. The entry is free of cost here. But, avoid visiting in summer afternoons because it is very hot at that time. There is also an option of boating for some time of the day. One can also walk and jog here. Also, enjoy the sightseeing and the shopping here and just feel relaxed and make your trip the best. It can also be a good picnic spot to spend quality time with friends and family.  

 2. Jumbo Point: It is a crossing in the Dwarka. It is that point from where one can see the taking off and the landing of the planes. It is a very thrilling experience to see the big air beasts from so close. You will enjoy it a lot and should visit here whenever you go to Delhi.   

3. Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah: One can visit the Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah and can enjoy the Qawwali. Music is the soul’s food. The magic of music can be experienced and enjoyed here. Old-style Sufi music, Shayari, and Qawwalis, all can be enjoyed here. There is no entry fees. One can visit without any ticket. It is situated at Baoli Gate Road. Many people come here to visit. The timings are 5:30-9:30 pm every day except on Thursday.  

 4. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib: Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is a very peaceful place and has very amazing ambience. It is associated with the eighth guru of the Sikhs. One can volunteer their service in the kitchen of the gurudwara sahib. This kitchen serves vegetarian food to a lot of people every day for free which is why many volunteers are required to help. It is open every day. One can visit from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. There is a holy pond also in the Gurudwara sahib. Therefore, one must visit Gurudwara Sahib whenever one visits Delhi.  

 5. Majnu ka Tila: It is a colony like a little Tibet in Delhi. It is a very new and unique idea to explore here at the bank of the Yamuna River. One can enjoy the authentic Tibetan food here which is served by many restaurants. Must try the noodles which are cold and spicy. Many visitors include students because it is near to the most popular universities of Delhi i.e., Delhi and Ambedkar University.  

 6. Sarojini Nagar: It is the best place to visit in South Delhi. It is very famous for wholesale shopping and different types of cheap and branded clothes. It is very famous among foreigners and youth. Branded clothes like Zara, mango, etc. will be available here at a very low price as compared to the original ones. Every item like clothes, shoes, handicrafts, crockery, etc. will be easily available here. The stock can be rejected one also which comes from different parts of the country. Therefore, it is the best flea market. It is open from 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. every day except on Monday.

7. Iskon Temple: It is a very famous temple of the Lord Krishna. There are many Iskcon temples all over the world and Delhi is one of them. There are few more temples in Delhi other than the main ISKCON. There is a dramatic light and sound show which is half an hour long. It attracts tourists and visitors a lot. Inside the temple, there are different paintings of lord Krishna. There is also a museum here where there are copies of Bhagwad Gita present. There is also a restaurant where one can enjoy pure vegetarian food. The Govinda Restaurant has very different types of cuisines available.   

8. Khari Baoli: It is a very famous market for spices. It is situated in Old Delhi and is visited by many people There are many colorful and aromatic spices available in the bulk. This market is closed on Sundays. Rest for the week, one can visit between 11:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. A large variety of spices are available from all over the world.   

9. Jama Masjid: It is the largest and highly decorative mosque in old Delhi. It has a large capacity for the devotees. Visitors can hire robes here from outside the masjid. This way they will feel like a local person of Delhi and not any outsider. There are no entry fees and it is open to visit all days of the week. So, one should visit here.  

10. Kunzum Travel Cafe: This cafe is in Hauz Khas Village. Many tourists visit here to go to different types of restaurants. Just visit and enjoy the food and the drinks along with discussing stories with others. Make new friends and just travel and enjoy. Also, a library is there where you can easily spend your time. After enjoying the food, walk around the duck pond present here. It is closed on Mondays so avoid visiting on that day. Visit between 11:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m. on other days of the week.  

11. Bicycle exploration: One can very easily explore Delhi by car. But, explore it once with a bicycle also. It will be a very good experience and you can notice the smallest details also by going on a bicycle. Cycling tours can also be joined where there are many tours like the Old Delhi tour, Yamuna tour, etc. The bicycle is available at many points in Delhi. The time depends on the tour and the group that you choose.
