Leading independent insurance brokers Towergate Insurance Brokers is supporting employee Dafydd Jonathan as he competes in the European Touch Rugby Championships this summer.

Dafydd joined Towergate’s Cardiff office as head of legal indemnities in February 2022 having studied law at undergraduate and masters level and completing the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University. He worked in the legal profession for a number of years before moving into the insurance world, where he now holds the title of director of transactional risks.

Having played rugby union in his spare time throughout most of his life, Dafydd moved to touch rugby in recent years and is now selected for the over 30’s male Welsh team to compete in the European Championships. The tournament is to be held in Vichy, France, this August.

On his selection, Dafydd said: “I’m so proud to have been selected in the championship team to travel to France later this year as I am relatively new to touch rugby, despite playing rugby union for so many years.

“My bosses and colleagues at Towergate have been incredibly supportive, I can’t thank them enough. There are a couple of people who deserve shout outs; they know who they are. Thank you.”

Justin Newton, Area Managing Director Wales, said: “A big congratulations to Dafydd upon his selection in the championship team. Everyone in the team is so proud of him, and hopefully some of us will be able to get out there and cheer him on this summer.”
