Two new-to-Wales fashion retailers are set to arrive in St David’s Dewi Sant Cardiff this summer.

Designer footwear brand Carvela and women’s fashion boutique Mint Velvet will both open stand-alone stores at the city shopping centre.

Carvela will showcase its innovative collection of shoes, bags and accessories. Designed by women for women with pioneering construction techniques, Carvela’s creations are set to appeal to the style conscious and offers a range of extended sizes and widths. The 2,130 sq ft store will be located on the lower level of the Grand Arcade, adjacent to sister brand Kurt Geiger, and is due to open on Saturday, July 23. St David’s is the latest addition to Carvela’s high street presence and will be its 12th UK store, one of three to open in 2022.

Renowned for its ‘relaxed glamour’ style, Mint Velvet will also make its Welsh debut when it opens the doors to its new 3,718 sq ft store this summer. Located on The Hayes, adjacent to AllSaints, the founder-led British brand will sell the label’s womenswear apparel, accessories and footwear collections.

Sarah Pugh, Head of Carvela Buying & Merchandise, commented, “Signing for our first Welsh dedicated store is another great step forward for Carvela. St David’s is a destination with a huge draw for our customers, and one we have been targeting as part of our nationwide expansion for some time. We are looking forward to opening next month and delivering our future-focused, female-designed products to a new audience.”

The latest signings are part of a line-up of stellar arrivals at St David’s including the opening of Phase Eight, Hobbs and Wales’ first OMEGA showroom from luxury jewellery retailer Laings alongside the hotly anticipated Ivy Asia, Thai restaurant Giggling Squid and Welsh bar Gin Ne Sais Quois, all due to launch this year.

Helen Morgan, Centre Director of St David’s Cardiff, commented: “It’s proving to be a hot summer already at St David’s with two fantastic brands we know our shoppers will love, cementing our reputation for high fashion. We’re constantly working to bring new, exciting names to St David’s whether it’s designer brands, high street favourites, Welsh independents or delicious dining experiences and are proud to see the latest arrivals join the mix – with a promise of more to come.”
