Tŷ Hafan, the leading children’s hospice charity in South, West and Mid Wales, were delighted to be awarded a grant of £11,192 from the Morrisons Foundation.
The charity provides free support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families within their hospice as well as offering a range of diverse community programmes, including; short respite breaks, play and therapies, family counselling including specialised support for siblings and bereavement care.
Thanks to the donation from the charitable arm of the supermarket, the charity will be able to install a fully accessible bathroom for one of their family rooms in the hospice, ensuring that patients and visiting family members with disabilities have easy access to a bathroom they can use.
Eleanor Prescott, Grants and Trust Fundraiser at Ty Hafan said, “The new bathroom in one of our family rooms will help keep our hospice care inclusive and flexible. Whilst we care for life-limited children with many different disabilities, the children’s family members may also experience mobility issues or a disability which would require an accessible facility being available in order for them to stay with us during short break care.”
Adrian Horsley, Morrisons Foundation Advisor noted, “I’m really pleased that we have been able to support Ty Hafan with this donation. The new accessible bathroom will make a huge difference to their patients and families with mobility issues. Supporting local charities within our communities is at the heart of what the Foundation is all about, it really does make me proud that we can provide this grant, particularly during these most challenging of times.”
The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching over £30 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
