From Saturday 27 March, under 18s were given the green light to take part in team sports and outdoor activities.
The development has come as part of the Welsh government’s gradual easing of coronavirus restrictions allowing Children and young people aged 18 or under to take part in supervised activities where they are held outdoors.
Each National Governing Body has developed a roadmap that supports a return to activity for each sport. The roadmap outlines the number of children who can attend each activity and the steps organisers must take to ensure a safe environment.
Social distancing can be harder for children and young people but wherever possible efforts should be made to socially distance, and the numbers in attendance should always reflect this.
While sports and outdoor activities are permitted to take place, organisers and our residents should remember that virtual meetings are safest and should continue to be used where possible. Sport Caerphilly have a range of virtual bootcamps taking place over the Easter holidays, for more information on these visit Sport Caerphilly Facebook or Twitter pages.
Cllr Ross Whiting, the Cabinet Member for Learning and Achievement, said: “This is welcome news for the young people across our borough. Exercise is key for young people’s development and well-being, although we want to emphasise the importance of keeping everyone safe and socially distancing themselves.
He continued: “Adults may attend these activities where they are involved in running them or looking after a child too young to be left but we want to urge you all to remain socially distanced at all times.”
