Work on the modernisation of the Hall wing at Ysgol Gymraeg Dewi Sant in Rhyl is progressing well.
Built in the mid-1960s, the Hall wing is seeing improvement works and upgrades which will see the wing transformed and modernised. The works that are currently being undertaken will ensure its continued suitability and adequacy for educational purposes, and its use by the wider community.
The renovation, which began at the start of the year, includes upgrading the insulation and energy efficiency of the building, which will not only enhance the comfort for the pupils, but also help to reduce the school’s carbon footprint. The roof will also be rebuilt with more insulation and a more peaked design will be implemented.
Additionally, new and upgraded technology will be integrated into the learning spaces on the wing, providing students with access to the latest digital tools that foster innovative and interactive learning experiences.
Outside the Hall wing, the school’s grounds will also be upgraded to improve access for users with a disability.
The work is now halfway complete and is scheduled to finish in the summer.
The work has been funded utilising funding from Denbighshire County Council and Welsh Government Repairs and Maintenance capital grants.

“The modernisation of this facility will bring with it new and upgraded technology, which will aid with teaching practices and learning.”
Headteacher, Mair Evans said:
“This new hall will transform the way we deliver education and extracurricular activities at Ysgol Dewi Sant. It will provide a modern, spacious environment where students can take part in assemblies, performances, PE lessons, and school events.
“Having a modern dedicated space means we can enhance our curriculum, offer more opportunities for creativity, and bring the school community together in a way that was not possible before. We look forward to seeing our students thrive in this fantastic new space.”
